Dany Foundation.com

The Dany Foundation was officially started on february 2007 when we got our registration with the chambers of commerce. But Grace Beatriz, the initiator of the Dany Foundation, had already been informing people about the tough situation which many capeverdean patients have to face in Portugal by promoting her book "Saudades do Dany". With the sales of this book a Christmas dinner was financed in december 2006 for the patients in Lisbon. In february 2007 we paid a visit to the relatives in Cape Verde of some patients. We brought them clothing and other goods and also we exchanged news and photos.

In the month of June the complete version of this website was launched on the internet. This quickly spread the news about our new foundation. We have already received many encouraging reactions via our website which has been visited by people from various countries (down this page you can see a chart on the origin of our visitors). Furthermore in the month of june we also got new media coverage in capeverdian newspapers
(A Semana 3 juni (English),A Semana 9 juni en O Liberal 7 juni ). The first donations have already been made on our account number 5185695. In Portugal as well as in Holland people have volunteered to start raising funds for the Dany foundation or to assist our activities in other ways.

Of course we are very happy and touched by all these enthusiastic reactions. We would like to thank all the people who are willing to support the Dany Foundation! We need all the help we can get to offer some relief to the neglected patients in Portugal. Therefore we would like to request all the people who already believe in the cause of the Dany Foundation to also inform their friends, relatives and colleagues about the Dany Foundation.

This is just the start however! We want to increase our activities rapidly so we can soon make a positive change in the living situation for sick capeverdeans in Portugal. We will seek new publicity to reach more potential donors. We will primarily be targetting dutch and portuguese media right now. But besides this we will continue our efforts to obtain support within the capeverdean communities in Europe and America.

Once again we would like to express our gratitude for all the reactions and support we have already received. Let us join together in making sure that capeverdean patients in Portugal don't feel abandoned any more!
