OBJECTIVES
Construction of new housing facilities for Capeverdean
patients in Lisbon, with an estimated capacity of
50 people.
Providing pleasant living conditions in this new pension and
other already existing pensions.
Easing the minds of seriously ill
people. Hopefully contributing in this way to attain full recovery. In cases of
terminal
patients: making sure that they at least receive a humanitarian
treatment.
WORK
METHODS
Cooperation
with an organisation of Capeverdian migrants in Portugal, FASCP. This organisation is well informed about the
local circumstances. The plot of land on
which the future pension will be built can be obtained very cheaply because of their mediation.
Cooperation with Portuguese and Capeverdian doctors and organisations
presenting them. Through their involvement bureaucratic procedures can
be speeded up.
Procurement (either by buying or through donations) of
things that might increase an enjoyable living situation in the pensions (television, toys,
(winter)clothing, internet etc.).
Organising activities for residents of the pensions to help
them relax.
Assisting family members left behind in Cape Verde
(maintaining contact, sending goods).
FINANCE
Within the shortest term possible we want to have
enough financial means to build new
housing
facilities for Capeverdean patients in Lisbon.
In the long term we strive to finance all operational
expenses solely through donations within the Capeverdean
community (self-finance).
